October 1-10 marks the occasion of Durga Navratri – a 9 day festival celebrating the Hindu goddess Durga. Navratri is Sanskrit for ‘nine nights’.
Our ashram in Queens had a full schedule of the daily activities and celebrations for this festival.
Friday evening a Kirtan was scheduled, which involves a variety of instruments and chanting.
Michelle Angele was present with her gongs and led the celebration.
It was a wonderful evening sharing space with our guru, Mokshapriya, and several of our fellow yogis. There were many new friends attending also.
After enjoying the ceremonies, we were invited to partake in refreshments and get to interact with each other more.
