Ascent 171 – Reading in the Sun

2016-05-18 19.50.26After spending a day indoors yesterday at a wonderful yoga training session, today was devoted to spending as much time as possible in the sun.

Although there are several great beaches within a short distance of where we reside, I felt the urge to just stay put and soak up the sun on the lawn outside the apartment.

My day started with my usual coffee, prayers, affirmations, gratitude and coffee being performed on the steps in the morning sun, as opposed to normal space on the futon.

After breakfast, we ventured outside and set up to just relax and enjoy being in the moment.

I’ve been reading The Afterlife of Billy Fingers for a few weeks now, reading a chapter or two every other night and was about two thirds through it. Today, I decided it was a perfect day to finish the book.

It’s been a long time since I took a total timeout to just read for a while. Not a fact I’m proud of and something that is going to be rectified ongoing.

There is something magical about losing yourself in a great book. Time seems to slow down, the world seems to recede and you’re sharing the journey with the author and the characters in the book.

This story, in particular, was a magical escape as Billy’s transformation in the afterlife reached it’s conclusion.

I was quite captivated by this story and look forward to reading it again to better assimilate the wonderful messages contained therein. I’m contemplating launching my radio show again and will definitely reach out to author Annie Kagan to share her perspective on her amazing journey.

In the meantime, let’s live this life to the fullest.
